As a somewhat OT point, I ended up being lucky and getting to change my Windows Remote Access solution to Remotely Anywhere, which includes a SSH server. So I now get to remote access my Windows and Linux computers in the same way - using SSH! Now, I'm not shilling for RA, but maybe consider some OSS or other SSH servers on Windows - far more reliable and secure than winexe for me...
